Neighborhood bar
or sophisticated cocktail party?
Former convenience store turned inviting sister bar to Portland's favorite Piazza Italia was intended to serve as a welcoming room for the restaurant overflow. It quickly garnered a reputation of its own and now serves as a destination for inspired cocktails (developed by acclaimed bartender Lucy Brennan) along with a robust wine program and authentic Italian appetizers. I was brought in to conceptualize and design the visual identity and graphic elements; to celebrate the extension of its beloved original neighborhood.
Brand Identity • Signage • Environment Graphics • Occasional Cocktail Test Pilot

The name Rione means “neighborhood” in Italian, and label graphics were created to elegantly echo the bountiful fields of bright poppies   blood-red that explodes en mass under the Italian sun.
